Mandi Gobindgarh, January 24- Nehru Yuva Kendra, Fatehgarh Sahib, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India organized a district level youth festival in Sri Hargobind Auditorium of Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Gobindgarh. Students of Chunni College, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Vishwa University, PIMTS, Desh Bhagat University and other educational institutions of the district participated enthusiastically in this program.
The chief guests of the program were Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University Dr. Zora Singh and Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur. The program was organized under the guidance of District Youth Officer Pankaj Yadav of Nehru Yuva Kendra with the cooperation of Student Welfare Director of Desh Bhagat University Dr. Arshdeep Singh and Media Director Dr. Surjeet Patheja. Seven competitions like debate, poetry writing, painting, photography, cultural team event, science fair (group) and science fair (individual) were organized in this program.
Winners of each category were given prize money and certificates in recognition of their hard work and talent. Results of various competitions Debate: Yashpal, Sonali and Arshdeep Kaur stood first, second and third. Poetry Writing: Shivam Chaudhary, Bachchu Lal and Dilpreet Kaur. Science Fair: Krishna, Harmeet Kaur and Chandra Sood. Gidda team of Sri Guru Gobind Singh World University secured first position while Gidda team of Desh Bhagat University stood second. Ludi team of Sarthak Foundation stood third. Apart from competitions, science exhibition was also organised by various departments like Agriculture, Dentistry, Robotics, Bio-technology and Bio-fuel.
In his address, Dr. Zora Singh congratulated all the participants and highlighted the importance of such programmes in nurturing young talents. Dr. Tajinder Singh emphasized the role of youth in nation building.
