Nawanshahr- Sangat of nearby village Simbli celebrated the second annual Lohri of newborn daughters with the support of Sarpanch Balveer Singh, Headmaster Harminder Singh, Madam Manjit Kaur, Karnail Singh and Madam Kashmir Kaur. Ek Noor NGO Pathlawa and Upkar Coordination Society Nawanshahr actively participated in the event.
12 newborn daughters of the village were given gifts by Nagar, Ek Noor and Upkar Coordination Society during the year 2024. After offering Ardaas for the progress of daughters at Gurdwara Shri Ajitgarh, the Sangat was addressed by Inderjit Singh Waria, Manjit Kaur, Sarpanch Balveer Singh, J.S. Gidda, Ma. Narinder Singh Bharta, Lt. Tarsem Pathlawa, Joga Singh Sadhra, Des Raj Bali, Narender Pal Toor. The speakers informed the congregation that in terms of sex ratio, Hoshiarpur district and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar rank first in Punjab in terms of total population and one year old children.
The speakers inspired the daughters to become brave by narrating stories of brave men and to provide them opportunities to progress like sons. The society has also started celebrating Lohri for the daughters, as daughters are progressing in every field.
