
DC assigns responsibilities for Republic Day celebrations to be held in Mohali

While taking a preparedness meeting of all the departments at District Administrative Meeting Hall, SAS Nagar, Mohali, the Deputy Commissioner expressed concern over the school children performing cultural programs during the event and protecting them from cold during rehearsals before that and directed that all the participants from government schools be provided with winter warmers. District Education Officer (Secondary Education) Dr. Ginni Duggal urged the Deputy Commissioner to increase the existing number of winter warmers from 1500 to 2000.
The Deputy Commissioner, while allocating various tasks to the heads of departments, said that no stone should be left unturned to ensure the success of the Republic Day celebrations in order to maintain the dignity of this day of national importance. Apart from cleaning and repair of roads leading to the Republic Day celebration venue, the venue ground and stage and other arrangements, he also stressed on providing refreshments and medical assistance to the students during the rehearsals as well as on the day of the event.
The Chief Minister urged Field Officer Deepankar Garg to finalize the cultural programs to be presented there. Similarly, District Development and Panchayat Officer Baljinder Singh Grewal was asked to assist the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) in preparing tableaux based on the achievements/welfare schemes of the departments.
He said that all arrangements should be made before the full dress rehearsal to be held on January 24, 2025 at the college ground. He said that on Republic Day, students should also be given snacks/refreshments before participating in the function and the food must be checked by the Food Safety Officers.
The Deputy Commissioner said that gallantry award winning ex-servicemen/families would also participate in the function and District Defence Welfare Services Office would ensure participation of such persons/families. The Deputy Commissioner asked all the departments to send the names and details of their best performing employees by January 10 so that they could be felicitated for their exceptional performance.
ADC (G) Viraj S Tidke, Commissioner Municipal Corporation Mohali T Benith, ADC (Rural Development) Sonam Chaudhary, SDM Mohali Damandeep Kaur, CMFO Deepankar Garg, Assistant Commissioner (G) Dr Ankita Kansal, Civil Surgeon Dr Sangeeta Jain and other officers of all departments were present in the meeting.
