DC Preeti Yadav celebrated New Year with Bamboo School students

Patiala, January 1 – Patiala Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav today shared the joy of the arrival of the New Year with the students of Bamboo School set up at RNB kiln in village Kheri Gaurian. Celebrating the New Year by distributing sweets, reading materials, blankets and other items to around 60 of these children, Dr. Preeti Yadav stressed on the district administration to make even greater efforts for the bright future of these children.

Patiala, January 1 – Patiala Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav today shared the joy of the arrival of the New Year with the students of Bamboo School set up at RNB kiln in village Kheri Gaurian. Celebrating the New Year by distributing sweets, reading materials, blankets and other items to around 60 of these children, Dr. Preeti Yadav stressed on the district administration to make even greater efforts for the bright future of these children.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration has opened two Bamboo Schools to enable the children of migrant laborers working at the kilns to get formal education in regular schools and also to teach them the manners and etiquette of life. He said that arrangements will be made to protect these children from child labor, including providing them with health survey, vaccination, mid-day meal and other facilities.
Block Education Officer Patiala-3 Jaswinder Singh told the Deputy Commissioner that earlier, during the construction of the Maharaja Bhupinder Singh Sports University building, 29 children of migrant labourers from Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh were given temporary admission and provided school education. He said that now these labourers are going back to their states and getting formal education by joining schools and getting further education. On this occasion, DDF Nidhi Malhotra, District Education Officer (Elementary) Shalu Mehra, District Red Cross Society Secretary Dr Pritpal Singh along with teachers of Bamboo School were also present.
