This stall set up at the Saras Mela was able to establish a positive hope for women prisoners due to the joint efforts of the Chairman of the ACCP Conservation Foundation (ACCP COPS) Dr. Deepak Singla, CEO Madam Monica Chawla and Chief Jail Officer Lalit Kohli. Various types of designer candles made by women prisoners for this stall sold well and were well liked by the city dwellers.
Giving information about this, social worker Monika Chawla said that it has happened for the first time that women prisoners were trained to make special types of candles, after which the candles made by them were exhibited in the fair.
He said that the same Conserv Foundation organization has run various programs to improve the lives of prisoners, from medical camps to building libraries in prisons, vocational training to make women and men prisoners self-reliant, etc. are included
Monika Chawla further said that prisoners living in jails are also a part of our society and we all should make joint efforts to put their lifestyle back on the right track so that these neglected people Can also become capable of living a dignified life.
He thanked Deputy Commissioner Mohali Mrs. Ashika Jain, ADGP Jail Arunpal Singh, IG Roop Kumar Arora, DIG Surinder Singh Saini and Deputy Superintendent Anil Bhandari for providing stalls and supporting the efforts of women prisoners at Sars Mela. He said that such public welfare work will be done by his organization in the future.
