
PGIMER’s 37th Convocation: Honoring Excellence with 80 Medals and 508 Degrees

Chief Justice of India, Dr. Justice D.Y. Chandrachud, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his address, he urged the new graduates to prioritize empathy and ethics in their medical careers. He emphasized that these qualities, coupled with technical expertise, are crucial for making a meaningful impact on patients' lives.
Drawing a parallel with the movie Munna Bhai M.B.B.S., he highlighted the importance of compassion in medicine, reminding the audience that patients need kindness as much as expertise. He praised PGIMER’s commitment to medical excellence and stressed the shared principles of medicine and law—Beneficence, Non-maleficence, Autonomy, and Justice.
The Chief Justice also addressed the need for equity in healthcare, urging graduates to ensure that technological advancements benefit everyone, regardless of socio-economic status.
Prof. Vivek Lal, Director of PGIMER, reflected on the institution's global achievements, including its recognition as the best center for lung cancer. He described PGIMER as a place where "miracles happen daily," driven by the dedication of its staff.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. R.K. Ratho, Dean (Academics). The event was attended by dignitaries, faculty, and families, marking a significant milestone in PGIMER’s journey.
