
Children were made aware about child rights and POCSO Act
Nawanshahr - According to the guidelines received by Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Dhiman and District Program Officer Jagroop Singh in District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Under the leadership of District Child Protection Officer Kanchan Arora, an awareness program was conducted at Charan Kaval Senior Secondary School Banga to make children aware about child rights and the POCSO Act.

On this occasion Gaurav Sharma Child Protection Officer (IC) gave information about the POCSO Act and child rights and said that it is necessary to have a safe environment for the all-round development of boys and girls. To create which the government has implemented the POCSO Act to provide legal protection to children So that children from zero to 18 years do not face any kind of exploitation. He said that under the POCSO Act, there is a provision of severe punishment for a person who misbehaves with children from zero to 18 years of age.
He asked the school teachers to openly discuss this sensitive topic with the children so that the children can know good and bad behavior. Gaurav Sharma informed the children about good touch and bad touch And said that if any child faces any kind of misbehaviour, he can feel free to tell his parents or his teacher about it. So that appropriate action can be taken against the misbehaving person under the POCSO Act with the help of the Police Department.
Apart from this, Kanta, who is deployed as an outreach worker under the Child Protection Unit, informed about the sponsorship given to children and the financial assistance provided by the Foster Care Scheme to continue the education of needy and destitute children. And said that to provide education and basic facilities to needy and destitute children, financial assistance is given at the rate of 4 thousand rupees per month under the sponsorship and foster care scheme run by the government.
The benefit of this scheme can be taken by two children of a family, any widow woman, divorced or single parent and such children whose parents are suffering from any incurable disease. Or if one of the parents of the children is in jail, such children are covered under the sponsorship scheme.
