
Pharmacy should not give Pregabalin medicine without doctor's approval - District Magistrate
5 March Nawanshahr - District Magistrate Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar Ankurjit Singh, exercising the powers conferred under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Defense Code, 2023, has issued orders that Pregabalin medicine should be distributed by the pharmacy only on the basis of approval of a competent doctor and for a specified period. He directed that the pharmacy should maintain a complete record of this medicine.

He said that the Civil Surgeon Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar has informed through his office letter number Drugs / 2023/452 dated 24.8.2023 that Pregabalin is commonly used by Medical Specialists / Psychiatrists / GDMOs for the treatment of patients suffering from diseases like fibromyalgia / neuralgia, but large amounts of Pregabalin can be misused as a medicine.
Therefore, Pregabalin medicine should be given by the pharmacy only on the basis of approval of a competent doctor and for a specified period. This order will remain in force till May 3, 2025.
