Various activities to celebrate Poshan Mah, 2024 under Poshan Abhiyan in District SAS Nagar - District Program Officer Gagandeep Singh

SAS Nagar, September 26 - As per the instructions issued by the Government of India under the Poshan Abhiyaan, as per the guidelines of Director Social Security, Women and Child Development Department, Punjab Ms. Shena Aggarwal and Deputy Commissioner Ms. Ashika Jain, Poshan Maah is being celebrated as a mass movement in district SAS Nagar from 1 to 30 September 2024.

SAS Nagar, September 26 - As per the instructions issued by the Government of India under the Poshan Abhiyaan, as per the guidelines of Director Social Security, Women and Child Development Department, Punjab Ms. Shena Aggarwal and Deputy Commissioner Ms. Ashika Jain, Poshan Maah is being celebrated as a mass movement in district SAS Nagar from 1 to 30 September 2024.

The objective of which is to make the general public aware to reduce the rate of malnutrition increasing day by day among children of 0 to 6 years, pregnant and lactating mothers and adolescent girls.

Giving this information, District Program Officer Gagandeep Singh said that the main theme of Poshan Maah this year is "Suposhit Kishori Sashakt Nari". Like every year, this year also Poshan Maah, 2024 was inaugurated with the oath taking ceremony on 01.09.2024. As per the calendar issued by the Government of India, during the Nutrition Month, various activities are being carried out in 650 Anganwadi centres under the district, including health screening caps, measuring the weight and height of children between 0 to 6 years to identify severely malnourished children, supplementary nutrition, nutrition and education, well-nourished baby shower, Annaprashan Diwas for children above 6 one month, home visits to children between 0 to 2 years and pregnant women, awareness about personal hygiene, counselling of parents in collaboration with the Health Department to spread awareness about anemia, underweight children, etc. Apart from this, common people are also being encouraged to eat fresh fruits and fresh green vegetables by making kitchen gardens in their homes. Anganwadi workers are making the general public aware by organizing exhibitions of healthy dishes prepared at low cost at Anganwadi centres.

Ms. Hardeepam, District Coordinator (Nutrition Campaign) said that the activities being carried out during the Nutrition Month are being monitored through an online dashboard prepared by the Government of India. According to which, as per the calendar issued by the Government of India, till now about 81998 activities have been conducted under the district. Apart from this, it was also told that during the Nutrition Month, along with various supporting departments, people are also getting full support at the regional level. At the same time, the block level officers of the department, block coordinators appointed under the Nutrition Campaign, circle supervisors and Anganwadi workers and assistants are making special contribution during this mass movement.
