
Ban on unauthorized construction of religious places in the district.
Nawanshahr- District Magistrate Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar Ankurjit Singh has issued orders exercising powers conferred under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Act, 2023 that no temple, church, mosque or gurudwara etc. will be constructed unauthorizedly on any public road/park/government land in the district. And no departmental officer will be allowed to construct any such place on a public place.

According to the District Magistrate, the Hon'ble Supreme Court in its clear instructions in SLP (Civil) 8519/2006 Government of India vs. Government of Gujarat has strictly prohibited the construction of any religious place on any public place, park or road etc. These prohibitory orders have been issued in compliance with these orders.
He said that it will be the responsibility of the heads of various departments to ensure that no temple, church, mosque or gurudwara is constructed at any such place under their jurisdiction and they should keep a regular watch on it. He has directed the executive officers of the Municipal Councils, Block Development and Panchayat officers not to allow unauthorized construction of any religious place on the land of Municipal Council/Panchayat/Shamlat/Mushratka owners.
If any person violates this, then they should immediately inform the Chief Police Officer of the concerned police station for action against the concerned person. He has also asked the Senior Superintendent of Police of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar to immediately register a criminal case against any person or organization violating his prohibitory order and stop the construction. These orders will continue till May 12, 2025.
