
PGI Pediatric Neurologist conferred withthe John Stobo Prichard Award
Professor Jitendra Kumar Sahu, a pediatric neurologist at PGIMER, Chandigarh, has been awardedthe prestigious “John Stobo Prichard Award 2024”, the highest international recognitionin child neurology, by the International Child Neurology Association (ICNA), which is awarded to a young child neurologist (<45 years of age) in recognition of outstanding clinical and research contributions to child neurology.
Professor Jitendra Kumar Sahu, a pediatric neurologist at PGIMER, Chandigarh, has been awardedthe prestigious “John Stobo Prichard Award 2024”, the highest international recognitionin child neurology, by the International Child Neurology Association (ICNA), which is awarded to a young child neurologist (<45 years of age) in recognition of outstanding clinical and research contributions to child neurology.
Dr. Sahu primarily works on childhood epilepsy, especially infantile spasms, and has over 170 publications, including research work published in Neurology, The Lancet Regional Health - Southeast Asia, Lancet Neurology, and JAMA Pediatrics. He is recognized as an international leader on the topic. He is also the founder of the South Asia allied Infantile Spasms Research Group. He is the first Indian child neurologist to receive this award. This award was initiated by the International Child Neurology Association, the world's largest association of child neurologists, as a tribute to the immense contributions of Dr.John Stobo Prichard.Dr. Sahureceived the award at the 18thInternational Child Neurology Congressin Cape Town, South Africa, and delivered the plenary award lecture on his research on infantile spasms. Prof Vivek Lal, Director, PGIMER, and Prof Pratibha Singhi, President ICNA and former Head of Pediatrics, PGIMER, were esteemed invited chairpersons to this special session. Dr Sahu expressed gratitude to all his mentors, colleagues, collaborators, students, PGIMER, and children with epilepsy under his care.
