
Case of illegal mining registered in Kubbahedi
Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, February 13, 2025: As part of the campaign being run by the Drainage-cum-Mining and Geology Department against illegal mining in the district, a case of illegal mining has been registered against unknown persons at Majri police station after a case of illegal mining came to light in village Kubbahedi of Block Majri.

Executive Engineer, Drainage-cum-Mining and Geology, District Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, Akash Aggarwal said that yesterday the department had received information about illegal mining in Kubbahedi, on which action was taken by the department and the department inspected the spot. During this survey, it was found that about 2.32 lakh cubic feet of gravel has been extracted from an area of ????about 29 thousand square feet.
He said that due to no prior permission being taken from the department for this excavation, violation of Section 4(1) of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act 1957 has been found against the unknown accused. Taking further action in the matter, a report has been lodged at Majri police station under sections 4 (1) and 21 (1) of the said Act.
According to Executive Engineer, Drainage-cum-Mining and Geology, District Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, after the district police lodged the complaint, further investigation in the matter has been started, during which the exact amount of area under illegal mining will be identified by the department and the ownership will be ascertained from the Revenue Department.
He clarified that the department has not officially permitted de-silting or mining at any other place except Banur weir in the district. He said that the department is committed to take strict action against illegal mining.
