January 26 is auspicious day for every Indian. We remember the fateful day of January 26, 1950, on which our country's own constitution came into effect. On this day, every Indian pays homage to the framer of the constitution, Bharat Ratna Baba Saheb Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar Ji. Like every year, this time too, Republic Day was being celebrated with full enthusiasm across the country. But the unfortunate incident that took place in Amritsar on this day shook every sensitive person.

Recently, I came across a story of a 75-year-old man who was roaming around the city at this advanced age, selling calendars, maps and charts for children. When someone asked him that this age is for sitting at home and resting while you wander around outside all day, the old man replied that if I stay at home all day, I will nag my daughters-in-law and children. "The light is on, the water is left on, the children are on their mobile phones" etc. Such nagging is not liked by the current generation and doing so will reduce my dignity and disturb the peace of the house. The man's reasoning was that I walk 10-15 kilometers every day, meet hundreds of people, earn income and sleep peacefully after eating bread and water in the evening. I am also happy and my family is also happy. This story shows the gap that has arisen between generations in today's time.

Not every work or every achievement is as per our thinking or desire. Strong circumstances also play their important role. Desires are limitless. There is a huge difference between the desires of a poor and a rich person. But if we think about the mere need of a common man to survive, then this difference will not seem very big. But every human being ends his life by running after desires by ignoring his needs and desires always seem to run away from his reach like a wild animal's thirst.
