Mahilpur:- Providing significant relief to economically weaker families and taking a significant step towards strengthening food security, MLA Dr. Ishank Kumar on Sunday launched the Punjab government’s landmark “Meri Rasoi Yojana” in Chabbewal assembly constituency, in which free ration kits were distributed to about 600 beneficiary families of villages Chabbewal and Ajnoha.
The MLA distributed ration kits to about 250 beneficiary families in Chabbewal and 350 beneficiary families in Ajnoha. He informed that all eligible beneficiaries of the constituency will be provided the benefits of this scheme by June 30. It is noteworthy that Chabbewal has joined the select group of constituencies in Punjab where the implementation of this scheme recently launched by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Sidhu has started at the ground level.
On this occasion, Dr. Ishank Kumar said that the objective of "Meri Rasoi Yojana" is to reduce the burden of rising cooking expenses on poor and middle class families and provide better nutrition to women and children. Under this scheme, each beneficiary family will get a special ration kit containing 2 kg gram dal, 2 kg sugar, 1 kg iodized salt, 200 grams turmeric and 1 liter mustard oil. These kits will be distributed to eligible families four times a year.
He further said that the Punjab Government is continuously working to make life easier for every section of the society through public welfare schemes, and he himself is committed to ensuring that the benefits of these schemes reach the people of his constituency first. Dr Ishank Kumar said that the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is not only making announcements but is also providing direct relief to the people through schemes like free electricity, Mukhya Mantri Tirath Yatra Yojana, Mukhya Mantri Health Yojana, Mawan-Dhyan Satkar Yojana and now Meri Rasoi Yojana. He said, “This scheme is not limited to just ration distribution, but is an attempt to provide dignity and nutritional security to families amidst rising inflation.” He added that the government’s special focus is on ensuring that no family is deprived of essential food items.
