Monsoon withdrawal begins from flood-hit areas of Punjab and Haryana.

Chandigarh:- The southwest monsoon has withdrawn from some flood-hit parts of Punjab and Haryana. Meteorological Department officials said that today the southwest monsoon has withdrawn from some other parts of Rajasthan, some parts of Gujarat, Punjab and Haryana and conditions are favorable for the withdrawal of the southwest monsoon from some other parts of Punjab and Haryana in the next two to three days.

The Meteorological Department has predicted light to moderate rain at various places in both the states of Punjab and Haryana on September 17 and 19 and rain at some places on September 18. It is noteworthy that flood-hit Punjab received 253.7 mm of rain in August, which was 74 percent more than normal and was also the highest in the state in the last 25 years.
The neighboring state of Haryana received 194.5 mm of rain in August, compared to the average of 147.7 mm of rain this month, which is 32 percent more than the previous month. It is also worth mentioning that this time the heavy rains had caused immense destruction in Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.
