
Veterinary University dedicates 'Teachers' Day' to provide relief to flood-affected community.
Ludhiana 06 September 2025:- As a collaborative effort to help the flood-affected community, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana in collaboration with Animal Husbandry Department, Punjab and All Feed Millers Association, Punjab organized a large-scale Animal Welfare and Health Camp at Ladhuka Mandi, Fazilka district. The aim of this initiative dedicated to Teachers' Day was to provide immediate relief and assistance to both the animals and residents affected by the recent floods.
Ludhiana 06 September 2025:- As a collaborative effort to help the flood-affected community, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana in collaboration with Animal Husbandry Department, Punjab and All Feed Millers Association, Punjab organized a large-scale Animal Welfare and Health Camp at Ladhuka Mandi, Fazilka district. The aim of this initiative dedicated to Teachers' Day was to provide immediate relief and assistance to both the animals and residents affected by the recent floods.
The University Teachers' Association provided free medicines in the camp. The camp was led by Dr. Jatinder Pal Singh Gill, Vice-Chancellor himself. He praised the joint effort and said, "Such initiatives show our true commitment to the community during this critical time." Dr. Gill highlighted the university's dedication towards farmers and animal welfare.
A team of veterinary experts and teachers, Dr. Bilawal Singh, Harmanpreet Singh Sodhi, Prateek Singh Dhaliwal, and Tanvika, along with post-graduates and veterinary trainees of the university, provided a variety of free services, including on-site treatment of sick animals, vaccination, deworming, udder swelling and reproductive health consultation for dairy animals.
The team also distributed free medicines and feed. Going beyond their official responsibilities, the teachers and students personally contributed social amenities like dry ration, human medicines and sanitary pads to help the affected people. These services were provided to 225 dairy cattle and about 50 sheep and goats in families belonging to about 150 farmers.
All Feed Millers Association made a significant contribution to the relief efforts with 100 bags of animal feed. The president of this organization, Mr. Ashok Kumar and secretary, Mr. G. S. Sodhi, said that our organization stands with the farmers of the state and with the support of the university, we will continue to provide assistance. This relief camp with a large participation of flood-affected people was organized under the leadership of Dr. Ravinder Singh Grewal, Director, Extension Education. Dr. Grewal said that this is the second camp in this series and similar flood relief camps will be organized in other affected areas of Punjab as well. The coordinator of the camp, Dr. Prahlad Singh, along with the entire team, made commendable efforts, which ensured the success of this event.
