Hoshiarpur - Under the Rashtriya Bal Swasath Karyakram (RBSK), special efforts are being made for the health care of children from 0 to 18 years while taking steps towards good health facilities. Civil Surgeon Dr. Balvinder Kumar Damana said that Shama Tiwari daughter of Badri Nath aged 07 years who studies at Gormint Primary School Rahimpur. This girl was suffering from heart disease (hole in the heart) since birth.
The girl was examined by doctors and referred to PGI Chandigarh by DEIC Center Hoshiarpur under RBSK programme. where he underwent a successful heart operation. Giving further information, he said that treatment and counseling services are provided to children with special needs at the DEIC center under the school health program at the district hospital. He said that children studying in government and government-aided schools from first to twelfth standard (6 years to 18 years) are medically examined once a year. 31 diseases found during medical examination in these children are treated free under RBSK. He said that children suffering from cancer are also being treated under the Chief Minister Punjab Cancer Relief Fund. On this occasion, while thanking the RBSK team of the health department, the girl's father Mr. Badri Nath said that his daughter is now completely fine. And they did not spend any money in the treatment and operation of the girl child. District Immunization Officer Dr. Seema Garg, District Family Welfare Officer Dr. Anita Kataria, Dr. Mandeep Kaur, School Health Coordinator Mrs. Poonam, Sunita Pharmacist, Staff Nurse Renu Bala, Ranjana, Pravesh Kumari were present with him on this occasion.
