
Cycle rally dedicated to Hypertension Day.
S.A.S. Nagar June 04, 2025: Civil Surgeon Dr. Sangeeta Jain flagged off an awareness cycle rally dedicated to World Hypertension Day. The rally started from the District Hospital and went to various places. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Jain said that high blood pressure is the main cause of many health problems, such as stroke, heart attack, kidney disease, dementia, etc.

The rally started from the District Hospital and went to various places. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Jain said that high blood pressure is the main cause of many health problems, such as stroke, heart attack, kidney disease, dementia, etc.
Many people suffering from hypertension do not even know that they are suffering from this disease, as it may not have any symptoms. Often people come to know about it only after having a heart attack or stroke.
She said that the main objective of this rally is to educate and raise awareness among people about high blood pressure, also commonly known as hypertension.
Dr Jain informed that blood pressure should be around 120/80 for general population and around 130/80 for people with high blood pressure without any other complications and around 130/80 for people with diabetes or chronic kidney disease.
Use of medicines and lifestyle changes can improve the quality of life and reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke, kidney disease and other diseases. District Family Welfare Officer Dr Tamanna, SMO Dr HS Cheema, Dr Parminder Singh, Nursing Sister Sukhwinder Kaur etc were present on the occasion.
