Lawyers should focus on giving adequate salary to trainee young lawyers: CJI Chandrachud

New Delhi, Oct 26 - Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud has said that lawyers must learn to pay fair salaries to youngsters who come to learn. In an interview with All India Radio, Chandrachud said that the legal profession is a tough profession where the foundation laid in the early years holds young lawyers in good stead throughout their careers. He said that there are always ups and downs in any profession. Initially, at the end of your first month in the legal profession, your earnings may not be very high.

In an interview with All India Radio, Chandrachud said that the legal profession is a tough profession where the foundation laid in the early years holds young lawyers in good stead throughout their careers. He said that there are always ups and downs in any profession. Initially, at the end of your first month in the legal profession, your earnings may not be very high.
For example, lawyers must learn how to pay fair salaries and allowances to young lawyers who enter their chambers. The CJI further said that youngsters come to the chamber to learn. They have a lot to share, so it is a two-way process that we have to impart to young lawyers.
Chandrachud also recalled his stint as a presenter on All India Radio during his college days in Delhi. Meanwhile, the CJI said his mother was a classical musician and would often take him to the studios of All India Radio in Mumbai. Later, after moving to Delhi in 1975, he auditioned for All India Radio and started hosting programmes in Hindi and English.
