Chandigarh:- Punjab Police has busted a cross-border arms smuggling racket and arrested two smugglers, who are said to have links with Pakistan. Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said on his social media platform X, “Fazilka Police busted a module linked to Pakistan based on a specific information.
Two persons supported by foreign handlers have been arrested, while five foreign pistols and nine magazines have also been seized from them.”
He said, “Initial investigation has revealed that the weapons were obtained from Pakistan through a foreign entity for use by criminal gangs in Punjab. The arrested accused Surinder Singh and Gurpreet were trying to supply weapons to criminal groups on the instructions of their foreign handlers.”
The DGP said that an FIR has been registered against these smugglers at Sadar Police Station, Fazilka under the Arms Act. Further investigation is being conducted to expose and dismantle the entire network.
