Una, October 3:- Under the aegis of the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, an awareness rally was organized today at Government Senior Secondary School, Santoshgarh, under the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’. Through the rally, students sensitized society about the harmful effects of drug abuse and conveyed the message of building a drug-free, healthy and prosperous society. Around 200 students from Classes 9 to 12 enthusiastically participated in the rally. Carrying placards bearing messages related to drug de-addiction, the students encouraged people to stay away from drugs and adopt a healthy lifestyle.

On the occasion, District Welfare Officer Awas Pandit said that drug abuse has emerged as a serious challenge before society, particularly the younger generation. Drug addiction not only affects a person’s physical and mental health but also adversely impacts family well-being and social development. He said that along with awareness, the collective participation of families, educational institutions and society is essential to keep the youth away from drugs. He urged the students to make education, sports and creative activities a part of their lives and, besides staying away from drugs themselves, also make people around them aware of its harmful consequences. He said that the objective of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan is not only to spread awareness about drug abuse but also to lay the foundation for a healthy, safe and empowered society.

On the occasion, Municipal Council Santoshgarh President Anjana Chabba, Tehsil Welfare Officer Jatinder Sharma, Superintendent Grade-II Anoop Singh, and teachers and other staff members of the school were present.
