Ambala, December 18:- After the court ruled in favor of the Municipal Council in the ongoing case regarding the shops built on government land (Rana Market), the Municipal Council locked 20 shops and the police station in Mahesh Nagar (Shabyana) of Ambala Cantonment. During the action, the Municipal Council's EO Davinder Narwal and the SHO of Mahesh Nagar police station were present. The Municipal Council did not take any action against the Mahesh Nagar police station. And has given two months to vacate the site of the police station.
There was a dispute over a Rana Market in the Mahesh Nagar area of ??Ambala Cantonment. According to sources, there used to be graves of Shabiana village here at some point. Now Shabiana has become Mahesh Nagar. Some people occupied this place and built a market and were charging a monthly rent of Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000 for each shop. Sources have said that the total number of shops is 28.
The case of these shops was under consideration in the court. After the court's decision came in favor of the Municipal Council, a team of Municipal Council officials reached the spot and took possession of the shops by locking them. It is being told that this matter was pending since 2015 and some people were charging rent from these shopkeepers. The Municipal Council took all the necessary legal action in this matter without delay.
Regarding this matter, the Municipal Council officer said that they have taken all the action by following the court's orders. Renting the shops to the shopkeepers is being considered. Regarding the non-action regarding the Mahesh Nagar Police Station, the Municipal Council EO said that the police have been given two months time as a new building of the police station is being constructed.
Today, the shopkeepers of Rana Market reached the Municipal Council office and made a written request that their shops be given to them on rent. The EO said that the shops have not been sealed, only taken possession and due process will be followed to give the shops to the shopkeepers.
