Una, September 24:- Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri announced Rs 25 lakh for the development of the wrestling ground at Baba Bodal Shah Temple, located at Lower Bhadsali in Haroli subdivision. He attended the concluding ceremony of the Baba Bodal Shah Chhinj Mela on Thursday as the chief guest.
The Deputy Chief Minister appreciated the construction of the Baba Bodal Shah Temple building, complex and hall and congratulated the Mela Committee for the same. He said that such events associated with temples and fairs are linked with the faith and social traditions of the region. The Baba Bodal Shah Chhinj Mela has long been an occasion for people of the area to come together and interact. He said that Chhinj and fairs also connect the younger generation with their folk traditions.
On the occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister presented a cheque of Rs 1 lakh to the Mela Committee for organising the wrestling event in memory of his wife, late Prof. Simmi Agnihotri. He congratulated the committee and local people for organising the fair.
He said that the objective of development in Haroli is to meet present-day needs while creating a better future for the coming generation. Opportunities in education, sports and advancement are being increased for children and youth. Our endeavour is to ensure that the facilities being developed in Haroli today benefit the children and youth of the area in the future, enabling them to build their future in a better Haroli. He said that along with development in the region, it is also necessary to preserve local traditions and socio-cultural heritage. We are committed to this.
Baba Bodal Shah Chhinj Mela Committee President Dharampal and members welcomed the Deputy Chief Minister and expressed their gratitude to him for attending the concluding ceremony of the fair and announcing Rs 25 lakh for the development of the wrestling ground. The committee also thanked him for donating Rs 1 lakh in memory of late Prof. Simmi Agnihotri.
Wrestlers from different parts of the state and the country participated in the Chhinj Mela. A large number of people were present to watch the wrestling bouts.
On the occasion, APMC Una Chairman Shiv Kumar Saini, Haroli SC Morcha Block President Jaspal Jassa, Lower Bhadsali Panchayat Pradhan Suram Singh, Upper Bhadsali Pradhan Sushma, SDM Vishal Sharma, DSP Mohan Rawat, along with officers from various departments, members of the Mela Committee and local residents were present.
