SAS Nagar (Mohali), October 4, 2026:- The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, through MY Bharat, Punjab, organised a state-level “Walk for Drug-Free Youth” today at CGC University, Jhanjeri, with the participation of more than 1,000 young people. The programme was organised under the nationwide “Drug-Free Youth for Viksit Bharat – 100 Sundays Campaign”.

The event was held across all states and Union Territories on the same day under the theme “My Health, My Pride”, the theme for the campaign’s first month. The walk was flagged off at 11 a.m. Students, NSS and NCC volunteers, MY Bharat volunteers, youth clubs and sportspersons undertook an approximately 3-kilometre walk on the campus, carrying placards and raising slogans promoting a drug-free life.

After the walk, all participants gathered in the auditorium and took the “Drug-Free Youth Pledge”. This was followed by a street play and a cultural programme to create awareness about the harmful effects of drugs.

The speakers appealed to the youth to make fitness a part of their daily lives, stay away from drugs and motivate their peers to do the same. The participants were also informed about the Tele-MANAS Helpline 14416 and the National Drug De-addiction Helpline 14446.

The “Drug-Free Youth for Viksit Bharat – 100 Sundays Campaign” is an ongoing campaign aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle, mental well-being and positive use of leisure time among the youth. Young people can join the campaign by registering through the MY Bharat portal (mybharat.gov.in).
