Una, January 5. Officials of the Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Jan Kalyan Foundation met with the Chairman of the Himachal Pradesh State Scheduled Castes Commission, Kuldeep Dhiman, at his office in Rampur today (Monday). During the meeting, the Foundation's state president, Durga Das Hira, submitted a memorandum regarding various issues related to the Scheduled Caste community.
On this occasion, the Chairman of the State Scheduled Castes Commission, Kuldeep Dhiman, assured the Foundation officials that the commission stands firmly with the Dalit community and that all the issues raised will be considered seriously and sensitively. He informed them that a detailed report has been sought from the Superintendent of Police of Kangra regarding the death of a Scheduled Caste girl in Dharamshala, and every possible effort will be made to ensure a fair investigation and provide justice to the victim's family.
He also said that the Chief Minister of the state, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, is personally concerned about this matter and has assured the victim's family of all possible assistance and strict action against the culprits through a telephone call.
Giving information on another issue, Mr. Dhiman said that none of the lecturers from the Scheduled Caste category have been promoted to the post of principal in the recent promotions. This matter will also be raised with the government and the concerned department for investigation. He clarified that every person from the Scheduled Caste category should receive their rights, as it is their constitutional right.
He appealed to the people of the Scheduled Caste community to avail themselves of the services provided by the commission and to be aware of their rights. He said that the Scheduled Castes Commission is fully dedicated to protecting the rights and interests of Dalit families.
In addition, the Foundation's district president, Naresh Kumar, also submitted a written complaint to the commission chairman regarding the incident of Scheduled Caste people being prevented from cremating bodies at the local crematorium in Bangana. On this occasion, Commission members Vijay Dogra and Vinay Modi, along with Foundation state president Durga Das Hira, state secretary Gurmail Singh, district president Naresh Kumar, vice presidents Hari Chand Sandhu and Bimbo Devi, media in-charge Sulinder Chopra, and other office bearers and dignitaries were present.
