Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, July 23:- Three buses of pilgrims were left from the assembly constituency Mohali today under the supervision of MLA Kulwant Singh under the Chief Minister's Pilgrimage Scheme. These buses are the 86th, 87th and 88th buses to leave from the constituency respectively.
Talking to reporters, MLA Kulwant Singh said that during the inception of the scheme, when four-five buses were left from the constituency, it took a lot of time to reach the pilgrims. But when the pilgrims who returned from the pilgrimage shared their experiences of this journey with their colleagues and relatives, a large number of people started registering under this scheme.
He said that first one bus, then two and now three buses are leaving from Mohali assembly constituency daily as per the demand and number of pilgrims. From August this number will be increased to six buses daily. Along with this, groups of pilgrims will also be sent for pilgrimage to other religious places including Khatu Shyam, Balasar, Vrindavan and Haridwar.
MLA Kulwant Singh said that there are 254 booths in Mohali assembly constituency and at least one bus from each booth will take the pilgrims on the pilgrimage. He said that this scheme is getting a huge response in the entire Punjab including Mohali and a large number of senior citizens are going to visit Sri Amritsar Sahib.
He said that during the pilgrimage, the pilgrims are visiting important religious and historical places including Sri Darbar Sahib, Sri Durgiana Mandir, Ram Tirath Valmiki Mandir, Wagah Border and Jallianwala Bagh. For the convenience of the pilgrims, guides are also present in the buses, who give them detailed information about the history and importance of various places.
Today, one bus was sent from Jujhar Nagar, the second from Phase-9 and the third bus from village Tangori. On this occasion, the constituency coordinator of the Chief Minister's Pilgrimage Scheme and state awardee Phoolraj Singh was also specially present.
MLA Kulwant Singh said that no such scheme has been started by any government before. He said that due to the thinking of Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, this scheme has become a reality and people are getting the facility of free travel for visiting religious places.
He said that the government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is giving priority to public welfare works. He said that work is also going on on the promises made by the government regarding providing financial assistance to women and the work of registration is going on on a large scale.
He said that development works in the Mohali assembly constituency will be further accelerated in the coming time. ‘Lok Milni’ programs are also being organized to listen to the problems of the people and provide information about the people-friendly schemes of the government. During these programs, necessary steps are being taken to solve the problems and demands of the people by getting information about them.
On this occasion, senior leaders of Aam Aadmi Party Kuldeep Singh Samana, Dr. Kuldeep Singh, Rajinder Prasad Sharma, Harpal Singh Channa, Jaspal Singh Mataur, Gurpreet Singh Bariali, Malkit Singh Block President, Harpal Singh Taluli Sarpanch, Amarjit Singh, Jaspal Singh, Iqbal Singh Jujhar Nagar, Bikram Singh Sandhu, Ravi Kumar, Kuldeep Singh Tangori, Jagjit Singh Jaggu former Sarpanch, Baljit Singh Happy and Pargat Singh along with other dignitaries were present.
