Ambala, October 4 (R. Singh):- As part of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, the Bharatiya Janata Party Ambala Cantonment organised the “Aangan Milan Seva” programme on Sunday at GMN College, Ambala Cantonment. SDM, Ambala Cantonment, Kanika Goyal attended the programme as the chief guest. Municipal Council President Swaran Kaur, Vice President Lalita Prasad, GMN College Management Committee President Dr. Gurdev Singh, General Secretary Ajay Aggarwal, District Programme Coordinator Aarti Sehgal, Coordinator Monika Vig, Mandal President Harsh Bindra, Ravi Budhiraja, Parvesh Sharma, Vikas Bahigel, BS Bindra, Sanjeev Soni, Bijender Chauhan and Rajiv Dimple were also present.

On the occasion, College Management Committee General Secretary Ajay Aggarwal announced that Cabinet Minister Anil Vij would donate Rs. 1 lakh from his voluntary fund for the successful organisation of the programme and departmental activities. SDM Kanika Goyal inaugurated the programme by cutting the ribbon and lighting a lamp before Goddess Saraswati. She thanked the Anganwadi workers, college staff and others for the successful organisation of the programme. She said that the term Anganwadi originated on October 2, 1975. The word Anganwadi means providing facilities to children in the form of a courtyard. Anganwadi workers have truly laid its foundation and are performing their duties commendably. They take care of the children who come here and prepare them for life. She also said that the performances presented by the young children during the programme were conducted under the guidance of Anganwadi workers. She appreciated the work being carried out by the Anganwadi workers as well. The department has also performed well in the SIR work. Anganwadi workers should continue their work with the same energy. On the occasion, she also asked the DPO to identify five such Anganwadis in Ambala district that could be developed as model Anganwadis. She honoured the young children who performed in the programme, along with Anganwadi workers and others. During the programme, SDM Kanika Goyal and other dignitaries also visited the stalls put up by the department. The SDM also appreciated the nutritious dishes prepared by the Women and Child Development Department.

On the occasion, former Mandal President Bijender Chauhan welcomed the SDM and others on their arrival. He said that various activities and programmes are being organised under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan under the leadership of Cabinet Minister Anil Vij. As part of this series, the Aangan Milan Seva programme was organised here today, in which BJP workers and others participated. He also informed that Aangan Milan Seva programmes have been organised at around 150 Anganwadi centres out of approximately 200 Anganwadi centres. Aarti Sehgal has been appointed District Coordinator and Monika Vig as Coordinator for these programmes. With everyone’s cooperation, the programmes are being organised successfully.

On the occasion, DPO Manisha welcomed the SDM and other dignitaries and informed that the department is organising three programmes in every block under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, while one programme will also be organised at the district level. She said that National Nutrition Month is being observed from September 9 to October 9, and the department is creating awareness about this campaign at all Anganwadi centres.
