Patiala, October 30 - District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairperson District Legal Services Authority Rupinderjit Chahal along with Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority Mani Arora visited Central Jail, Patiala, New District Jail, Nabha and Open Air Jail Nabha observed. During the visit, District and Sessions Judge Rupinderjit Chahal interacted with the inmates lodged in the jails about their grievances/problems. The Superintendent of Jails, other officers and staff of Jails were directed to ensure timely redressal of their grievances/problems. A Skill Development Room was also inaugurated in the new District Jail, Nabha by the District and Sessions Judge, Patiala. On this occasion, he said that professional courses like beautician course, computer course, floristry, sewing, agriculture and horticulture have been started in the jails of district Patiala. He said that the District Legal Services Authority, Patiala also organizes meditation/yoga camps and medical camps for the prisoners in the jails of District Patiala. During his visit to the Central Jail, Patiala, he also distributed certificates among the jail inmates who had completed the beautician course in the Central Jail, Patiala.
Apart from this, Mani Arora, CJM cum Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Patiala organized a legal awareness program with the jail inmates of Central Jail, Patiala. During this program, the jail inmates were made aware about the negative effects of drugs on the human body and mind. They were also made aware about NALSA (Legal Services for Victims of Drug Abuse and De-addiction) Scheme, 2015, concept of pre-institution mediation, free legal aid and who is entitled to get free legal aid.
