It is noteworthy that Havildar Sheikh, a jawan of Special Forces (6 Para), was killed in an encounter that took place in the Dudu-Basantgarh area of ??the district on Thursday. A wreath-laying ceremony was held for the soldier at 166 Military Hospital in Jammu. Officials said that his body was later sent to his native place, Pathar Ghata village in Nadia district of West Bengal, for burial.
Senior Army, Police, Central Reserve Police Force and Border Security Force officers, led by White Knight Corps Chief of Staff Major General Shailendra Singh, laid floral wreaths on the body of the jawan and paid tribute to his sacrifice. He said that a search operation was underway by the security forces to nab a group of three terrorists in Basantgarh belt of the district.
