
Workshop on 'Vedic Swara: Method and Utility' inaugurated at Punjab University
Chandigarh, 27 February 2025- Dayanand Chair for Vedic Studies, Punjab University Chandigarh inaugurated a five day workshop “Vedic Swara: Method and Utility” today on 27th February in which Prof. Naresh Kumar Dhiman, Dayanand Chair Professor, Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University, Ajmer, Rajasthan was present as the keynote speaker.
Chandigarh, 27 February 2025- Dayanand Chair for Vedic Studies, Punjab University Chandigarh inaugurated a five day workshop “Vedic Swara: Method and Utility” today on 27th February in which Prof. Naresh Kumar Dhiman, Dayanand Chair Professor, Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University, Ajmer, Rajasthan was present as the keynote speaker.
The program was inaugurated with Vedic Mangalacharan and the Chair Chairman Prof. V.K. Alankar verbally welcomed the keynote speaker and all the learned people present. Prof. Naresh Kumar gave a general introduction of Vedic mantras and said that proper understanding of the meanings of Vedas is possible only through the Swara. He classified the types of Swara and also showed the harmony between Vedic and worldly Swaras.
While expanding the meaning of Gayatri Mantra according to the Swara-process, he explained the significance of its various positions. Thereafter, while repeating the practice of Swara-process, he explained the Swara-formation of various mantras.
Prof. Alankar stressed the importance of swara and motivated the students by saying that swara is very important for understanding the Vedic meanings properly. Assistant Professor of the department Dr. Bhardwaj thanked all the dignitaries present. All the teachers and researchers of Sanskrit department and Dayanand Peeth were present in this.
