Haroli/Una, May 23 (Rajveer Chopra):- Madan Lal, a 50-year-old resident of the Nagar Panchayat area, has been battling a severe paralytic condition for approximately 18 months. It is reported that he suffered a sudden paralytic stroke at home just before leaving for work, and he has remained bedridden ever since. The family's financial situation has deteriorated to such an extent that sustaining their daily household expenses has become a struggle.
Sharing her plight, Madan Lal's wife, Sushma Devi, stated that she has made every possible effort to secure treatment for her husband, yet to date, they have received no significant relief. She explained that her husband was the sole breadwinner in the family; consequently, his being bedridden for the past year and a half has plunged the entire family into a financial crisis. The family's entire savings have also been exhausted in covering medical expenses.
Sushma Devi mentioned that both her son and daughter attend a government school. Furthermore, because their ration card falls under the APL (Above Poverty Line) category, they are unable to avail the benefits of various government welfare schemes. She noted that an application for the 'Sahara Pension' was submitted over a year ago, yet the pension has not commenced to this day.
She further revealed that doctors at the Una hospital had issued a disability certificate certifying 75% impairment about a year ago; however, under the pretext of requiring a new certificate, she is now being made to run from office to office repeatedly. Sushma Devi lamented, "On one hand, the patient's condition is critical, and on the other, the system has left us utterly harassed."
Prominently highlighting this issue, Ajay Sehgal, the newly elected Councilor of the Nagar Panchayat, asserted that providing assistance to this impoverished family is absolutely essential. He has also assured the family that he will arrange for a wheelchair to be provided to them.
Sushma Devi has appealed to the government and the administration to make arrangements for her husband's proper medical treatment and to expedite the commencement of the 'Sahara Pension' in order to provide much-needed relief to the family.
