Hoshiarpur:- Under the guidance of Civil Surgeon Hoshiarpur Dr. Mandeep Kamal and under the leadership of District Epidemiologist Dr. Jagdeep, the Health Department team conducted “Dry Friday” activity at Punjab Roadways Workshop and Office. On this occasion, employees and officers were given detailed information about prevention from dengue, malaria and other mosquito-borne diseases.
On this occasion, larvae were also checked by health staff and nursing students. Meanwhile, District Mass Media Officer Tarsem Lal while addressing the employees said that dengue mosquito breeds in clean and stagnant water, hence every person should take special care of cleanliness in their home, office and surroundings.
He said that old tires, coolers, flower pots, drums, fridge trays and other water-collecting containers should be emptied once a week to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes.
On this occasion, District Epidemiologist Dr. Jagdeep informed that for the prevention and control of dengue, the Health Department is also running a door-to-door mosquito larva checking campaign in the urban area. He said that for this, different teams have been formed which will go door to door in different areas of the city every day to check for mosquito larvae and make people aware about prevention of dengue.
During this, the Health Department team also inspected the workshop and office. Wherever standing water was found, anti-larvae were sprayed and people were informed about the necessary precautions to prevent mosquitoes. Employees were also encouraged to wear full-sleeved clothing, keep water tanks covered, and immediately seek medical attention at a government health facility if they develop a fever.
