Goa nightclub case Preparations in full swing for Luthra brothers to return to Delhi Goa Police team to reach Bangkok tonight
Bangkok:- Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra, wanted in the Goa nightclub case, may be deported to India soon. According to sources, the Luthra brothers are expected to be brought to Delhi by tomorrow. Legal and administrative procedures in Thailand are in their final stages, after which the brothers will be handed over to Indian authorities.
According to sources, Thai authorities are ready to proceed with the case of Gaurav Luthra and Saurabh Luthra, who are co-owners of a Goa nightclub where 25 people died in a fire on December 6, with a Bangkok court likely to decide on the next course of action.
The Luthra brothers, co-owners of Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub in Arpora, North Goa, had left for Phuket in Thailand soon after the fire incident. An Interpol Blue Corner Notice has been issued against them.
The Luthra brothers were taken into custody by Thai authorities on December 11 after the intervention of the Indian mission, which is in close contact with the Thai government in the matter. According to sources in the Indian embassy here, all necessary documents related to the two brothers have been sent to the Thai authorities through official legal channels. They said legal developments indicate that the case is likely to be argued in a court in Bangkok.
“The case is expected to proceed once the local court in Bangkok begins hearing the case. However, there is no clarity on the timeline yet, as the action will depend on when the judge takes up the matter,” the embassy said. Senior advocate Javed Mir is leading the team of lawyers representing the Luthra brothers, while advocate Vaibhav Suri has also reached Bangkok.
Sources said that various legal options are being explored under Thai law to contest the case. The Indian government has handed over a dossier to the Thai authorities after the passports of the two brothers were cancelled, alleging their involvement in the deaths of 25 people.
