Hansi:- Under the nationwide massive plantation campaign of the Hon'ble Supreme Court, a special plantation and sapling distribution program dedicated to environmental protection and public awareness was organized on Tuesday by the Sub-Divisional Legal Services Committee (SDLSA), Hansi. The program was led by SDJM-cum-Chairman and Chairman of Sub-Divisional Legal Services Committee, Hansi, Ashutosh. Under the campaign, about 1,500 saplings were distributed and planted in various government schools, colleges and rural areas of the sub-divisional area.
During the program, students, teachers, villagers, social workers, advocates and Adhikar Mitras participated enthusiastically and took a pledge for environmental protection. On this occasion, fruit-bearing and shady saplings were distributed and everyone was called upon to take regular care of the plants.
SDJM-cum-Chairman Ashutosh said that environmental protection is not a subject limited only to government schemes, but it is the moral, social and constitutional responsibility of every citizen. If every person takes a pledge to plant at least one plant in his life and take care of it, then a clean, safe and balanced environment can be ensured for future generations. He said that plants not only increase greenery, but also play an important role in tackling the challenge of climate change, reducing pollution, conserving groundwater and maintaining biodiversity.
He said that this nationwide campaign started by the Hon'ble Supreme Court is an inspiring initiative in the direction of environmental protection. The objective of this campaign is to make every section of society responsible towards nature and to connect maximum people with plantation.
During the program, panel advocates and Adhikar Mitras associated with the Sub-Divisional Legal Services Committee visited various government schools and colleges and told students and teachers about the importance of environmental protection. They made them aware about conservation of plants, saving water and maintaining a clean environment and called upon students to plant saplings in their respective houses and school premises.
Apart from this, saplings were also distributed to villagers, women and youth by running special campaign in rural areas also. Adhikar Mitras motivated villagers to make villages green, to plant saplings at public places and to take regular care of the planted saplings.
On this occasion, panel advocates and Adhikar Mitras also gave information to the general public about legal rights and duties related to environmental protection. They told that healthy and clean environment is the fundamental right of every citizen and active participation of society is extremely necessary in its conservation.
The Sub-Divisional Legal Services Committee, Hansi, while calling upon to connect maximum people with environmental protection through the campaign, said that plantation will be meaningful only when the planted saplings are regularly taken care of and kept safe till they become trees. The committee expressed confidence that with public participation, Hansi area can be made more green, clean and environment-friendly.
